Os Gemeos

Recently, this mural sprung up in Boston by Brazilian artists Os Gemeos in partnership with the ICA.  I think it's supposed to be a small child with a sweatshirt wrapped around his head.

People seem to have mixed feelings about it but I actually am happy it's there.  It's a nice backdrop for the food trucks and farmers market that live right about where I was standing to take the photo {the plants in front are a teaching garden}.  I spend time in neighboring buildings and find it nice how bright it is peeking though the windows of the buildings.  It's definitely not a very typical "Boston" thing but perhaps that's why I like to see it.

Giant Baby Heads

Boston is a tiny, tiny city in comparison to New York, LA and Montreal {and probably tons and tons of others}.  It's also pedestrian scale - it's walkable and for the most part the buildings are fairly low.

Lately, I've been noticing giant things invading Boston - funny giant things.  A few months ago it was the giant hammock on the greenway.

This fall I began taking a 3d computer modeling class at Massachusetts College of Art.  The Fenway area isn't my favorite part of Boston but I have to say that the giant baby heads, by Spanish artist Antonio López García, I pass on the way to class make it worth the trip.

It's kind of hard to tell the scale in this photo but they are about 8 feet high by 5 feet wide, taller than me or any of the people I've seen posing by them for photos.  More information is here.

A Giant Hammock for Bostonians

The weather is going to be beautiful this weekend.  For anyone looking for something to do in Boston there is a giant hammock set up on the Greenway {I think you have to sign a waiver to sit on it}.  Set between two busy roads, it might not be the most relaxing place, but it is a fun spot for a quick visit.

When I was there, I saw the best colors in the window of a nearby building.

The colors turned from dark blue to teal to lime green and was much more impressive in person, I swear.
