Kips Bay Showhouse - The Spiral Staircase

I'm normally a color person, and not much of a brooding color person {although I'm generally a fan of red with grays and black}, but there is something about this dark stairway by Rauber + Rauber that I found myself fascinated with. 

It may just be the little tables.

Or the chandelier {though I would love it in a colored glass instead of the amber}.

My pictures are terribly dreary but the New York Times has a slightly brighter one.
