Petit Bateau :: Winter Window Display

It's the holidays, and I don't think I have posted about a single holiday window yet. This Petit Bateau window display is actually from last winter, but it got lost in the shuffle.

It's full of sparkle and, though you can't truly tell from these photos, it had twinkling lights in the background adding to the display.

High Tech = Tons of Color

Over the past few months I've been on some high tech firm tours and designed some tech offices of my own.  I never shy away from color so I find these projects and tours very exciting.

What do you prefer, neutral or color at work?

Alice In Wonderland Window Display

I took this picture in the Design Center almost a year ago, and because time seems to be flying at top speed in my world these days, I'm just getting around to posting it now.

It's a vignette of Alice in Wonderland made of fabrics, wallcoverings and trims.  I love it, though it's a bit eerie.  I guess the movie is strange enough that it totally makes sense.

Also, aren't the dog pillows the cutest?

Sheets probably aren't the most exciting thing in the world, but I have been thrilled with some new sheets I got over the summer.  I had a few old sets I got from Target right after graduation and they worked for a few years but they had gotten sad looking and I wanted a bit of an upgrade.

I held out because of my four-legged friend and her tendency to dig like she's trying to get under the bed via the mattress.  Or maybe she's part prairie dog and trying to dig herself a home.  Whatever the reason, I was worried she would destroy anything new I got.  This was definitely the case for a poor quality organic cotton set I bought at Target, but undeterred I found this.

How are they doing?  Well, they've taken plenty of abuse but so far are holding up.  Luckily the holes shrink in the wash.

Anthropologie Window Display :: Summer Garden

Fall is in the air in New England, but today I picked my first tomato from the garden. I realize that sounds strange, but in my tomato's defense, they were planted in the last few days of July. The Anthropologie at Rockefeller Center, on the other hand, had their garden windows in full swing in May {which is when I actually took these photos}.

Is everyone else as ready for fall as I am?

American Hustle

The other week I had a cavity filled, and on the way home I stopped at a thrift shop in the area.  I spotted a few things that I became slightly obsessed with and thought I needed to have.  I walked out the door and then right back in to talk to the cranky checkout lady.  When I asked about a lucite chandelier hanging near the register, she immediately became my new best friend.

the chandelier I found

almost the same chandelier on One Kings Lane

The chain is a bit raggedy and it needs some cleaning but it will be a great chandelier some day.  And it has a story, apparently it was used on the set of American Hustle, a movie coming out the end of December, and then donated to the thrift shop along with these lamps and a ton of other items after filming.

So I guess having a cavity can sometimes lead to some good happening.  Now if only my dentist had put googly eyes on the tooth drawing he made for me.  That would have made the day perfect!

Moving On

I have had what feels like the longest week ever.  I gave my notice at my current job because I received an offer from a place that is a much better fit for me.  Let's just say the supervisor at my current job isn't taking it very well.  Or it may be that she is her usual crazy self and I'm overly sensitive about it because I'm leaving.  Whatever it is, I'm so happy for the weekend and for only three more days of work in what feels like an uncomfortable situation.

Because of this, I thought I would end the week with a photo of something that always makes me laugh.  I can't tell you how many construction sites around the city have these baskets full of construction debris with what looks like the Chanel logo on them.  It's hilarious to see construction workers pushing them around during the day.
