The Wright Restaurant

The Wright - David Heald

I love the design of The Wright Restaurant at the Guggenheim in NYC.  The sculpture on the wall reminds me of the lights from traffic you will find zooming by on the street.  It was meant to mimic the horizon as it's title is actually, The horizon produced by a factory once it had stopped producing views (2009).

Whatever the intent, it is a great space.

Peter Pennoyer, Park Ave Foyer

I've had this image kicking around in my downloads folder {I have no idea where I found it}.  When I see it I giggle since the name of the photo rhymes.  With all the talk about the book by Peter Pennoyer Architects I thought I'd finally post it.

I haven't read or seen the book, but I love the design of this foyer with the pattern on the doors and especially the metal work on the door.

Oversized Floral Chairs

I came across these chairs last month and I love that this floral pattern from Osborne & Little is like a giant chintz.  It would be at home in the right modern place as well as a traditional home.

Orange & Brown

The past couple of weeks have been absolutely nutty for me.  I have been working on many very different projects - a school, a couple of hotels and I even babysat an apartment while they filmed a pilot for a design show.  I'm hoping things are back to normal and I will have time each day to relax and maybe to get more than 6 hours of sleep, but in the meantime I thought I'd put up a bunch of inspiration photos of the color scheme I used in a recent hotel: orange and brown.

I proposed a houndstooth carpet in one of the projects, we'll see what they say about that....

Barneys Holiday Window Sneak Peek

Yesterday the New York Times unveiled a sneak peek of Barneys holiday window.

It's made of tin foil and coffee cans!  I like this much, much better than last year's window - which was a bit creepy.  I hope to get down there some time in December to check the actual windows out and see what else Simon Doonan has in store.
